  1. NAME
  2. smd-translate - translates mailbox names according to predefined patterns
  3. SYNOPSIS
  4. smd-translate [-m mode] [-d direction] endpoint mailbox
  5. DESCRIPTION
  6. smd-translate translates mailbox names according to predefined patterns.
  7. It is designed to be used in the configuration file of smd-push(1) and
  8. smd-pull(1).
  9. Refer to smd-config(5) for a longer discussion on translators.
  10. Supported modes follow.
  11. oimap-dovecot
  12. This mode is designed to make the transition of offlineimap users to
  13. smd simpler. It assumes remote mailboxes are named like in the
  14. following:
  15. Maildir/cur
  16. Maildir/.sub.folder/new
  17. The corresponding local mailboxes are named like in the following:
  18. Mail/cur
  19. Mail/sub.folder/new
  20. nodots
  21. This mode simply gets rid of all dots. It assumes remote mailboxes are
  22. named like in the following:
  23. Maildir/cur
  24. Maildir/.sub.folder/new
  25. The corresponding local mailboxes are named like in the following:
  26. Mail/cur
  27. Mail/sub/folder/new
  28. move
  29. This mode just replaces the root of the mailbox, i.e. substitutes
  30. MAILBOX_LOCAL for MAILBOX_REMOTE and viceversa.
  31. USAGE IN CONFIGURATION FILE
  32. Assuming the MAILBOX_LOCAL configuration variable is set to Mail
  33. and the MAILBOX_REMOTE is set to Maildir, one can use the following
  34. configuration file snippet in ~/.smd/config.endpoint:
  35. TRANSLATOR_RL="smd-translate -m oimap-dovecot -d RL endpoint"
  36. TRANSLATOR_LR="smd-translate -m oimap-dovecot -d LR endpoint"
  37. To test your setup use the smd-check-conf(1) utility.
  38. OPTIONS
  39. -m mode One of the supported modes listed above
  40. -d direction One of RL or LR
  41. endpoint Is the suffix for the name of the configuration file to use
  42. mailbox The mailbox name to translate
